From Corporate Hustle to Riches: A Thanksgiving Reflection
Gratitude, Balance, and Smart Choices for Abundant Living
A Personal Note of Gratitude
This Thanksgiving, I’m reflecting on a year of transformation and gratitude. Leaving behind 20 years in corporate to build NAZ Global Consultancy wasn’t easy, but it’s been the most rewarding challenge—allowing me to align my career with my values as a present mom, an entrepreneur, and a woman living her version of a rich, fulfilling life.
The truth? This freedom started with choices I made early in my finance career: maxing out my 401(k), investing in funds I barely understood, whilst savoring life’s joys—like splurging on designer finds during bonus season. Balance was my secret. Today, I see why Einstein called compound interest the "eighth wonder of the world.” Wherever you are on your financial journey, the time to start is NOW. It’s simpler than you think, and it’s never too late.
I’m also immensely grateful for you, my community. Your emails, texts, and messages encourage me to keep sharing and adding value through my work. Every connection inspires me to do more.
Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃✨
As the festive season begins, it brings a unique opportunity to pause, reflect, and reset. We understand that the holidays can be both joyful and challenging a season filled with love, celebrations, and generosity but also financial strain and emotional reflection.
This time of year, we encourage you to focus on balance: appreciating the abundance already in your life while setting the stage for personal and financial growth in the coming year. Together, let’s cultivate gratitude, strengthen our relationships, and empower ourselves to live richer, fuller lives.
How Can Gratitude Transform Your Financial Mindset?
Gratitude is transformative. It doesn’t just elevate your mood it rewires your mindset. In the context of financial and personal growth, gratitude allows you to:
1. Celebrate Progress, Not Perfection
Instead of focusing on what you haven’t achieved yet, reflect on the strides you’ve made. Maybe you started a savings plan, paid off a small debt, or took a course to enhance your skills. These are wins worth celebrating.
2. Transform Anxiety into Appreciation
Financial stress is common during the holidays, but gratitude can ease the pressure. Shift your focus from spending to the joy of giving whether that’s gifts, time, or support.
3. Foster a Positive Money Mindset
Gratitude fosters abundance. When you’re thankful for what you have, you attract more of it. This season, instead of resenting expenses, thank your resources for allowing you to provide for your loved ones.
What three financial wins are you grateful for this year?
Take 10 minutes to write down three ways money has positively impacted your life this year.
Examples:
“I was able to invest in professional development that grew my career.”
“I enjoyed memorable experiences with my family, like a trip or a simple dinner out.”
“I built my emergency fund, which gives me peace of mind.”
Strengthening Relationships: The Wealth of Connection
No matter how much wealth you accumulate, the true richness of life often comes from the people you share it with. During the holiday season, consider deepening your relationships and fostering connections that empower and inspire you.
1. Express Gratitude to Loved Ones
Take a moment to reflect on the people who have supported you whether emotionally, financially, or spiritually. Show your appreciation with a thoughtful gestures or heartfelt words. Gratitude strengthens bonds and reminds those around you of their importance in your life.
Example: Write a letter to a family member or friend thanking them for their guidance or kindness. A simple note like, “Your encouragement helped me take a leap in my career this year,” can mean the world.
2. Reconnect with Those Who Matter
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to lose touch with loved ones. Use the holidays as an opportunity to reconnect and prioritize your relationships. Reach out to a long-lost friend with a message or call. Plan a simple get- together, such as a coffee date or a walk in the park.
Strong relationships are often built on shared values and mutual aspirations. This holiday season, take time to align with your partner, family, or friends on collective goals. Discuss financial dreams, such as saving for a vacation or purchasing a home. Create a vision board together, combining personal and financial aspirations.
Who in your circle has had the biggest impact on your life this year?
Think of one person who has profoundly impacted your life this year. Reach out to them with a message of thanks. Be specific about what they’ve done and how it’s made a difference in your life.
Set Empowering Financial Intentions:
1. Create a Holiday Gratitude Budget
The holidays often bring pressure to overspend, but you can avoid financial strain by crafting a gratitude budget. Prioritize spending on what matters most: meaningful gifts, quality time with loved ones, and experiences that create lasting memories.
Allocate funds for giving back. Supporting a cause or helping someone in need can make the season more fulfilling.
2. Reflect on Your Financial Wins
As the year comes to a close, take stock of your financial progress. What did you achieve this year? Did you start saving, pay down debt, or invest in yourself?
Reflecting on these wins will motivate you to keep building on your success in the coming year.
3. Set a Financial Intention
Instead of setting lofty resolutions, focus on one or two empowering financial intentions that align with your values.
Examples:
“I will save 10% of my income to build my emergency fund.”
“I will focus on generating a new stream of income through a side hustle.”
“I will reduce unnecessary expenses and prioritize experiences over things.”
Write It Down, Make It Happen: Declare Your Financial Intention for the New Year
Write down one financial goal or intention for the new year. Keep it visible on your desk, phone, or vision board to remind yourself of your focus and purpose.
Reflect and Appreciate
As we close out the year, let’s take a moment to celebrate everything we’ve achieved both big and small. Whether it’s financial milestones, personal growth, or meaningful connections, every step forward is a victory. This holiday season, we encourage you to:
Reflect on your journey. Recognize your progress and give yourself credit for how far you’ve come.
Appreciate your resources. Be thankful for the money, time, and energy you’ve invested in creating the life you want.
Cherish your loved ones. Spend time with the people who make your life richer and more fulfilling.
